Conway, Ark. AP-Fire raced through a small cardboard-lined frame house near Guy yesterday, killing eight persons trapped inside.
The dead included three children. Three adults escaped.
Sheriff Joe Castleberry identified the dead as Fred Wiedower, 51; his son Fred Mack 10; Dan Henderson and his wife, Cora, eash 64; their son-in-law and daughter, C. B. Marsh Jr., 37, and Albadeen Marsh 21; and the two Marsh daughters, Deborah Dianne, 4 and Martha Jan 2.
Those who escaped were Mrs Bronnie Wiedower, 44, who was hospitalized here with serious burns; her son Dallas 21; and John C Glover, about 50, who lived with the Wiedowers. The Hendersons and Marshes residents of Pangburn, were visiting.
The Wiedowers and Glover had converted a small smoke house and garage into temporary quarters while building a new house the sheriff said. The old hous had been torn down.
Castleberry said the fire apparently was touched off by a wood stove.
