FAYETTEVILLE — Johnny Leon "Rusty" Gough Jr., 53, of Fayetteville died April 10, 2008, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Hot Springs after suffering a massive heart attack while attending the Arkansas Derby Weekend at Oaklawn Racetrack with friends.

He was born Dec. 10, 1954, in Muskogee, Okla., the son of Johnny Leon Sr. and Talitha Elizabeth Smith Gough.

He was employed by Sam's Club Meat Department. He was commonly known as JLG among his friends who played National Trivia Network and QB-1 (Interactive Football). He enjoyed cooking, bowling, fishing, horse racing and all sports. He loved blues music and played bass fiddle and trombone.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Cynthia White Gough.

He is survived by two sons, Jonathan Travis Newman and Mark Ryan Spong; two sisters, Nadine Yates of Fayetteville and Valerie Gough Cox of Pensacola, Fla.

He was very close to his nieces and nephews, Leslie, Scott and Chase Miller, Alisha Marshall and Amanda Young; and great-nieces and great-nephews, Jordan, Sydnee, Emilee and Kaycee Marshall, Macie Miller, Jackson Miller, Kaydance and Miriam Young.

Services will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday, April 15 at Moore's Chapel. Burial will be in the Baptist Ford Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Scott Miller, Chase Miller, Rogers Marshall, Richard Young, Matt Moreland and Andrew Clark.
