Mrs. Alice Lawler Morehead, 83, of Fordyce, died Friday in a Fordyce hospital after a lengthy illness. Born Sept. 20, 1883, in Winchester (Drew County), she was the daughter of Robert and Gustina Wright Lawler. She had been a longtime resident of Fordyce and was the widow of Charles Clinton Morehead. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Fordyce. Survivors include a son, Jimmy Morehead of Poyen; a daughter, Mrs. Lillian Wall of West Monroe, La.; two sisters, Mrs. Nettie McGraw 516 W 8th St. El Dorado, and Mrs. Ethel Williams of Sheridan and seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in the chapel of Benton Funeral Home in Fordyce with the Rev. Earl McCallister of Carthage officiating. Burial will be in Hampton Springs Cemetery near Carthage. (El Dorado Daily News - May 22, 1967)
