To parents Charlie and Clara Gammel, Ollie Gammel was born in Humphrey, Ark. in 1918. She married Franklin M. Folsom at an early age and settled as a homemaker in what would be their life-long farm and home in Humphrey, Ark. As Ollie made her somewhat famous homemade biscuits, chicken and dumplings and apple pie, Frank would be tending the fields of cotton and soybeans from sun-up to dusk in the plains of Arkansas' Grand Prairie. A source of pride to the family, and something unheard of today, is that all of Frank and Ollie's children were born in their Humphrey home, a testament to the determination and resourcefulness of the Folsom parents. In Humphrey she was a dedicated member of Crooked Creek Assembly of God church where she served as both secretary and treasurer as well as teacher of the Children's Bible Classes.

With family at her side, Ollie Folsom died peacefully in her sleep at the age of 93 at the Fianna Hills care facility in Fort Smith Friday, Feb. 17, 2012. She was preceded in death by her parents and beloved husband in 1991, and one son, Sylvester. Also preceding her in death were brothers Jesse Gammel and Alfred Gammel. She is survived by her four children, Franklin Folsom of Hackett, Paulette Niemann (Larry) of Farmington, Louise Russell of Russellville and Patsy (Clay) Sherrod of Petit Jean Mountain. In addition, she is survived by 10 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are Ollie's step-brother, Garland Gammel and step-sisters, Martha Cole and Dorothy Calve. Services celebrating the life and faith of Ollie Gammel Folsom will be at Turpin Funeral Home in Stuttgart on Feb. 20 at 2 p.m. Visitation will precede the service from 1-2 p.m. The family asks that memorials commemorating the life of Ollie be made to Arkansas Children's' Hospital Little Rock.
