FAYETTEVILLE — Dorothy Dare Cummins, 78, of Fayetteville died Aug. 7, 2000, at Fayetteville. She was born Jan. 23, 1924, in Portsmouth, Va., to Leroy Frank and Mazel B. Thornburg Kay. She was a member of Charity Baptist Church in Fayetteville and was a homemaker. Her husband, Robert L. Cummins, preceded her in death in 1982.
Survivors include one son, Edward L. Cummins of Gasburg, Va.; two daughters and one son-in-law, Kay Higgins and Barbara Turner and Ron, all of Fayetteville; two brothers, Leroy Frank Kay Jr. of Vass, N.C., and James W. Kay of Portsmouth; one sister, Betty Sue Head of Mountainburg; 10 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home in Springdale with the Rev. Jack Anglin officiating. Burial will be in Bluff Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be David Turner, James Cummins, David Wood, Mike Turner, Cory Anglin and Rick Scott.
Honorary pallbearer will be Lowry Harvey.
