Lincoln Man Dies In Crash

A 71-year-old Lincoln man was killed early Sunday morning when the car he was driving was struck head-on by a pickup truck on Hwy. 59 seven miles south of Siloam Springs, Arkansas State Police said today.

State Police identified the man as Benjamin Oliver Mensch. Tropper Donny Anderson said Mensch was south-bound on Hwy. 59 when a north-bound pickup truck driven by John T. Pike, 19, of Siloam Springs, crossed the centerline, striking the Mensch car head on.

Mensch was pronounced dead on arrival at Siloam Springs Memorial Hospital. Pike was treated and released.

Born April 15, 1903 at Lincoln, the son of J.C. and Fammie Sallee Mensch, Mensch was a retired farmer.

Survivors are two sons, J.D. and Bill of the home; two daughters, Mrs. Lois Low of Tahlequah, Okla., and Mrs. Loretta Mensch of Desert Hot Springs, Calif.; four brothers, Jim, Enra, and John of Lincoln and Dale of Desert Hot Springs, Calif.; three sisters, Mrs. Kalherine Morrison of Benument, Calif., and Mrs. Vinia Knox and Mrs. Mae Wallace of Lincoln; and seven grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Luginbuel Chapel in Lincoln with burial in Cane Hill Cemetery.
