Funeral service for Mrs. Elsie Johnston Whitmire, 71, of Prairie Grove, who died Friday in a local hospital, was held Monday afternoon at Moore's Chapel with burial in Rhea's Mill Cemetery.
Born July 30, 1896 in the Cincinnati community, the daughter of Jessie and Mary Johnston, she was a life-long resident of Washington County and a member of the Methodist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Jewel Carlisle of Farmington; two sons, Oscar of the Phillipines and George of Fort Smith; one sister, Mrs. Prudy Jewel of Mesa, Ariz.; one brother, Roe Johnston of Potosi, Mo.; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
