Ruth Fern Williams, 79, of Gentry died Monday, May 20, at her home.

She was born Sept. 25, 1911, at Lipscomb, Texas, to Tom Louis and Bessie Matthews Lewis. She had lived at Gentry since 1944. She was a former supervisor at Gravette Manor Nursing Home and was formerly with Home Health Services in Springdale. A registered nurse, she graduated from the Wesley School of Nursing at Wichita, Kan., and retired in 1978. She was a member of Gentry Church of Christ. Her parents, two brothers, Roy and Jim Lewis, and two grandchildren preceeded her in death.

Survivors are her husband, Joseph Ely Williams; a son, Tommy Williams of Gentry; three daughters, Charlene Leudecke of Gentry, Elaine Trammell of Tulsa, Okla., and Tammy Coones of Gentry; 13 grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and 16 stepgreat-grandchildren.

Graveside service and burial are set for 2 p.m. today at Springtown Cemetery with Ronnie Morrison officiating. Arrangements are by Wasson Funeral Home, Siloam Springs.
