A Southwest Little Rock woman was found slain in her home Saturday night.
Morene Smith, 65, was found face down in a bedroom of her home at 13911 Alexander Road about 9 p.m. police said.
A neighbor reported hearing half a dozen gunshots about 8 p.m., but police did not disclose a cause of death fro Smith. Detectives were seen taking finger prints from the front door of the home. Smith, who apparently lived alone, is the city's ninth homicide this year.

Obituary
Lois Morene Smith, 66, of Alexander, widow of Jarrell J Smith died February 4, 1995. She was born May 3, 1928 in Greenbrier, Arkansas to Roy L and Ollie (McNew) Glenn. She was a homemaker and member of Mabelvale Missionary Baptist Church. She is survived by her son, Robert Smith of Little Rock; brother John V Glenn of Heber Springs; six sisters, Ann Hammershol of Anaheim, California, Nancy Powell of Hackett, Arkansas, Robbie King of Springdale, Arkansas, Patty Patrick of Mayflower, Arkansas, Bobbie Rittle of Sherwood, Arkansas and Syble Graham of North Little Rock, Arkansas; and two grandchildren, Christopher and Amber Smith of Little Rock, She will be buried in Thorn Cemetery at Greenbrier, Arkansas. Arrangements will be announced later by Griffin Leggett Healey & Roth.
