Joel E. Thornton, 81, of Conway, passed from this life on Tuesday, January 15, 2013. Born in Van Nuys, California, he was a son to the late John A. and Margaret Goodrum Thornton. Joel retired from the Air Force having served during both the Korean Conflict and the Viet Nam War. He also retired from Conway Corporation. His wife Syble A. Williams Thornton and a brother John Thornton also preceded him in death.

Survivors include his son, David Thornton of Siloam Springs; daughters, Donna J. Thornton of San Diego, CA and Terry M. Allen and husband Joe of Parthenon, AR; a sister Jeri Withrow and husband Jim; step-sons Joe A. Williams of Greenbrier and John M. Williams and wife Sandy of Conway; step-daughters, Donna S. Erbach and husband Edward and Debby Mauldin and husband Carl both of Conway; two grandchildren, Ashley and Taylor Thornton; nine step-grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and a niece.

The funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm, on Friday, January 18, 2013, at Roller McNutt Funeral Home in Conway, with Bro. Freddie Mark Wilcox officiating. Interment will be held at Thorn Cemetery, in Greenbrier with Taylor Thornton, Blake Erbach, Justin Turney, Adam Erbach, William Black, Jim Hancock serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 pm, on Thursday, at the funeral home.
