Lloyd Leon Hays, 81, of Fayetteville, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on April 3, 2006.

He was born Nov. 28, 1924, in Fayetteville to Wentworth Hatfield and Rachel Parker Hays. He was a lifelong resident of 81-plus years at the same property in Fayetteville, located on the corner of Mount Comfort Road and Deane Solomon Road. He attended Meadow Valley School and Peabody High School.

He served in the United States Navy in the South Pacific during World War II aboard the USS Comet. Lloyd studied civil engineering at the University of Arkansas. He married Joan Coleman of Mountainburg, in 1961. Lloyd retired from the University of Arkansas after 22 years, where he had served as Physical Plant maintenance coordinator. He designed, built and operated Trailwood Mobile Home Park since 1965. He was a member of the West Ridge Free Baptist Church. He was involved in Bible study fellowship. Lloyd was a loving, gentle and hard-working man. He was a devoted husband and father and his grandchildren were the delight of his life. He enjoyed raising rattle and sheep, gardening, fishing and watching wildlife.

He was preceded in death by his father, mother and two brothers, Charles "Doc" Hays and Rutherford B. "Rud" Hays.

He is survived by his wife of abut 45 years, Joan of the home; two sons and daughters-in-law, David and Karen Hays of Prairie Grove and Danny and Evelyn Hays of Fayetteville; two daughters, Deborah A. Hays, M.D. of Van Buren and Dannetta "Tigger" Hays of Fayetteville; three grandchildren, Rachel Kaitlyn Hays and Jonathan Lloyd Hays of Prairie Grove and Emmielou Grace Hays of Fayetteville; two nieces, Peggy Martin of Littleton, Colo., and Ethel Lillian Bullington of Tulsa, Okla.; numerous friends.

Services will be at 2 p.m Friday, April 7 at Moore's Chapel in Fayetteville, online at mooresfuneralchapel.net. The Rev. Loyd Thomas will officiate.

Burial will be in White Oak Cemetery near Wheeler.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Moore's.

The family requests, in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to West Ridge Free Will Baptist Church Building Program, 4596 W, Wedington Drive, Fayetteville or the Arkansas 4-H Foundation, P.O. Box 391, Little Rock, 7220.
