FAYETTEVILLE — Lonnie Dean "L.D." Greenlee, 62, of Fayetteville passed away Monday, April 1, 2002, in Fayetteville. He was born Dec. 27, 1939, in Fayetteville, the son of Lonnie and Effie Mae Cook Greenlee. He was a 20-year employee of Tyson's processing plant and was a member of Oak Grove Full Gospel Church. Mr. Greenlee was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather (papa). A man of great character and was a fine example of how one person can make a tremendous impact on his family and friends. He was much loved and will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his wife, Irene Frazier Greenlee of the home, to whom he was married in 1959; his mother, three daughters and sons-in-law, Dena and Pascual Reyes, Sheila and Alyandro Floras, Cindy and Roy C. Hawkins, two sons and daughter-in-law, Jackie and Mita Greenlee, Don and Michelle Greenlee; two ex-sons-in-law, T.J. Johnson and Jeff Motes; 17 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; four sisters, Mary Ellen Barnhart, Bertha Pestscoff, Hazel Frazer, Frances Davis; three brothers, Kenny Greenlee, Billy Greenlee, Martin Greenlee and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, one daughter, Teresa Hester Darlene Pennington in 1981; one brother and one sister.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 4, 2002, at White Oak Cemetery near the Wheeler community, with the Rev. J.D. Starr and Diane Hayes officiating. Visitation will be from noon to 9 p.m. today, April 3, 2002, at Nelson's Funeral Home in Fayetteville. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.
