Lester Asher Black was born July 14, 1878 to Caroline E. Stillwell and Phineas M. Black. He lived in DeWitt, Arkansas and was a civic leader and rice grower. He owned extensive rice, cotton and livestock interests and was known as a rice miller also. He was involved in local banking and was owner of hardware, machinery and other businesses. He served for a while on the Arkansas Highway Commission. He married Mary Louise Boone on Junary 30, 1909. The had three daughters. He died December 31, 1945.
