Daughter of Troy F. and Geneva Laughter Ramsey Acord.
She was married to Dayton Hughes of Lamar for over 50 years, who preceded her in death in 1991. Josephine was a caring mother and grandmother, accomplished homemaker, excellent cook and fine gardener. Her immaculate and varied flower beds bordered the large vegetable plots, from which the family grew most of its food for many years. She was wise in the art of preserving and canning and understood the economic and nutritional value of home gardens. She was frugal, but inventive, in both her food preparation and care of home and family. She was an accomplished hair stylist, and she cared for her own mother in later years. Josephine is survived by a son, Doug Laughter (Patricia) of Little Rock; three grandchildren, Michael Laughter, Cheryl Taylor and Carey Hughes; her sister, Kathleen Neal of Lamar. Burial by cremation. Interred in Reynolds Cemetery, Lamar, Arkansas. Memorials to American Heart Association, P.O. Box 841125 Dallas, TX 75284. Arrangements by Hardwicke Funeral Home.
