Mary Snoddy Shofner was the wife of Wilson Brown Shofner. She was born in Lincoln County, Tennessee. Her parents were John Robert and Delilah Tribble Snoddy. She and Wilson moved their family to Corinth, Sevier County (now Howard), Arkansas in the late 1850s. Wilson joined the Confederate Army in 1863 and fought with Witherspoon's Arkansas Cavalry. He was captured and imprisoned at Rock Island, Illinois. He was paroled on March 11, 1865 at James River, near Richmond, Virginia and died a day later. He is buried at Oaklawn Cemetery at Richmond, Virginia. Mary raised her family alone on the family farm near Center Point, Howard County, Arkansas.
