JOPLIN, Mo. — Mary Elzene Foglesong, 80, of Joplin died July 14, 2006, at St. Johns Medical Center. She was born Nov. 12, 1925, in Savoy to Eldridge Elsworth and Fludia Mae (Jones) Cowan. She attended high school in Farmington and Fayetteville High School. She was a Joplin resident since 1949. She was a waitress and cashier for SS Kressge Co. for more than 20 years, retiring in 1980. She was known for her "Apple Dumplings." She also worked as an in-home child care provider for 15 years. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church for more than 50 years, Women's Circle No. 1, Westminster Sunday School class, Zinc Rebekah Lodge 369 and GNOSIS.

She was preceded in death by her husband, R.N. Foglesong on Dec. 18, 1981; one daughter, Mary Carolyne Foglesong.

Survivors include one daughter, Sarah Foglesong of Joplin; three sons, James Foglesong and wife Brenda of Mount Vernon, Mo.; Randy Foglesong and wife Barbara of Springdale, and Bill Foglesong and wile Marcie of Seabrook, Md.; one sister, Deena Mae Phipps of Savoy; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

Services are at 10 a.m. Monday at the Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary, with the Rev. Clifford Mansley Jr. officiating. Burial will be in the White Oak Cemetery in Savoy.

Family members will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. Sunday at the mortuary, online at thornhilldillon.com.

A memorial service is at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Luginbuel Funeral Home in Prairie Grove.

Contributions may be made to Circle 1 of the First Presbyterian Church.
