Donald H. James
Donald “Don” Howard James, age 72, of Yellville, Arkansas, passed away Thursday, January 22, 2015 in Searcy County, Arkansas.
He was born June 17, 1942 in Rea Valley, Arkansas to Howard Emanuel and the late Vera Irene (Parnell) James. He had worked as machine shop supervisor for Baxter lab for 36 years. He was a member of Main Street Church of Christ in Yellville, Arkansas. He enjoyed doing things with his granddaughters like hiking and shooting guns.
He greatly enjoyed being outdoors splitting wood, brushhogging, woodworking, baling hay and hunting. He was an avid gun and knife collector. He showed unconditional love to his family, and he displayed an unmatched work ethic. He became active in his church, and he would lend a helping hand to anyone who reached out to him. Besides his family, he had a special attachment to his “feline companion” named Bella.
Don is survived by his wife of 51 years, Beverly, of the home; his father Manuel of Yellville; two daughters: Melanie Paden and her husband, Mark, of Mountain Home, Arkansas; and Marla Ott and her husband, Ty, of Springdale, Arkansas; a sister-in-law, Peggy James of Green Forest, Arkansas; three grandchildren: Callie Paden, Bailey Ott, and Abbey Ott; a nephew, Bobby James; and a niece, Lise Lyles.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Vera; and a brother, Jerry.
Visitation for Don will be Sunday, January 25, 2015 from 6:30 – 8:30 pm at Burns Funeral Home in Yellville, Arkansas. Funeral service will be 11:00 am Monday, January 26, 2015 at Main Street Church of Christ in Yellville, Arkansas with Jerry Tinsley officiating.
Interment will follow in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery near Yellville.
Pallbearers will be Harvey Parnell, Wade Still, Jason Still , Kenneth Martin, Ty Ott, Bobby James, Mark Paden, Bryan Jefferson.
Memorials may be made to Pleasant Ridge Cemetery.
