Service for Miss Jewel Minnis at Stuttgart Today
Miss Jewel Minnis of Roe, aged 62, member of a pioneer and prominent Monroe County family died early Turesday night at Baptist Hospital in Memphis after a long illness.
Funeral services will be held this afternoon, Thursday; at two o'clock at Turpin Funeral Home Chapel in Stuttgart with the Reverend Richard Poss, pastor of the Roe Methodist Church, officiating.
Miss Minnis was born and reared at Roe, the daughter of the late Mr & Mrs J D Minnis. She graduated at Ward Belmont at Nashville, Tennessee, attended Arkansas State Teachers College at Conway and the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi sorority.
She was a member of the Roe Methodist Church.
She lived in Brinkley for thirteen years where she taught the third grade and was a member of the MacDowell Music Club.
Miss Minnis owned and operated extensive farming interest.
There were no immediate survivors.
Burial will be in the family lot at DeWitt and Turpin Funeral Home at Stuttgart is in charge of all arrangements.
Pallbearers are Gaylon Hopson and Buddie Joe Hopson of Roe, Harold Woodfin and Louis Stallinger of Brinkley, William T Dortch, Jr, of Scott, and Jack Minnis Benz of Souix Falls, South Dakota.
