Johnny B. Nahlen, 93, of Atkins died Tuesday, January 23, 2008, at his nephew's home in Atkins.

He was born January 4, 1915, in Atkins, and was the son of the late Charles and Teresa Maus Nahlen.. He was preceded in death by a longtime friend, Hazel Hicks, five brothers, Bill, Joe, Paul, Chas and Leo Nahlen; and five sisters, Cele Lawrenz, Bobbie Griffin, Marie, Teresa and Peggy Nahlen. He served in the US Navy Seabees in World War II, was a local independent building contractor and farmer and a lifelong member of the Church of the Assumption. On his 93rd birthday, he was honored by the Diocese of Little Rock for his lifelong commitment to his church, family and community.

Survivors include numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.

Funeral service will be 10:00 AM Saturday, January 26, 2008, at the Atkins Assumption Catholic Church with Rev. Ernie Hardesty officiating. Burial with military honors will be in the Atkins Catholic Cemetery. Arrangements are by Lemley Funeral Service.

Visitation will be 6:00-7:00 PM Friday, followed by Rosary at 7:00 PM at Lemley Funeral Chapel.

Pallbearers will be Bobby Lajoie, Riot Lajoie, Ron Lawrenz, Tim Lawrenz, Billy Nahlen, Jim Carfagno and David Bishop. Honorary Bearers will be Billy Joe Nahlen and Jimmy Griffin.
