Obituary
Drucilla Hays, 84, of Atkins, went to her heavenly home Sunday, June 24, 2012, at Saint Mary's Regional Medical Center in Russellville.
She was born December 25, 1927, in Pope County, to Mervin Ellis and Nora Kinslow Barton.
She was a homemaker who loved to quilt, sew, do embroidery work for her family, and loved spending time with her grandchildren. She was a member of the Rehoboth Assembly of God.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Joe D. Hays, a brother, Donald Barton, two sisters, Lucine Shiflet and Ailene Boggs, and her son-in-law, Billy Joe Carter.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Charles D. and Gloria Hays of Florissant, Missouri; a daughter, LyDonna Carter of Appleton; a brother and sister-in-law, Ellis and Floye Barton of Wichita, Kansas; three sisters-in-law, Jane Barton of Hector, and Verlan Freeman and Virginia Hays, both of Atkins; six grandchildren, Kevin Hays and his wife, Liz, of Florida, Trevor Hays of Appleton, Scott Hays of Dover, Denise Robertson of Appleton, Wendy Hogan and her husband, Kevin, of Pottsville, and Rebecca Myrick of Russellville; nine great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson and several nephews and nieces.
The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, June 27, 2012, at the Shinn Chapel, officiated by the Rev. James Chronister. Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery near Jerusalem, by Shinn Funeral Service of Russellville.
Active pallbearers will be Rickey Pruitt, Burl Hays, Kevin Hogan, Tyler Robertson, Scott Hays and Jonathan Parrish.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.
