Obituary
Loyd Freeman, age 82, of Atkins, died Friday, February 8, 2002, at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center in Russellville. A son of the late John Henry and Lou Burks Freeman, he was born June 10, 1919, in Pope County, Arkansas. He was retired from Tyson Foods, was a United States Army veteran of World War II, and was a member of the Rehoboth Assembly of God Church (in the Buttermilk Community). In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter, Carylon Jo Freeman; two granddaughters: Shawna Beth and Lana Beth Parish; a brother, Jimmy Freeman; and a sister, Hallie Macley. Survivors include his wife, Verlan Freeman; two daughters and a son-in-law: Sharon and Glen Parish of Hector; and Vickie Beachamp of Atkins; three grandchildren: Michael Beachamp of Atkins; and Jonathan and Kay-Leigh Parish, both of Hector; a brother and sister-in-law, Tommy and Geraldine Freeman of Russellville; two sisters: Ann Owens of Ozark; and Betty Marsh of Las Vegas, Nevada; two brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: R. G. and Virginia Hays and Joe and Druscilla Hays, all of Atkins; two sisters-in-law: Pearl Freeman and Ila Mae McGee, both of Atkins; numerous nephews and nieces and friends.
Funeral service will be 10 A.M., Monday, February 11, 2002, at the Shinn Chapel with Rev. Rickey Pruitt and Rev. Jim Cheatham officiating. Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery, near Jerusalem, by Shinn Funeral Service of Russellville.
Active pallbearers will be Jerry McCuin, Bill Carter, Floyd and James Freeman, David Rackley and Jerry Goodall. Honorary pallbearers will be Rev. Carrell Hanna, Rev. James Chronister, James Lewis Henderson, Jimmy Baugham, Lamoyne Baker and Randall Mathis.
The family will receive friends on Sunday afternoon, from 2 to 4 P.M., at the funeral home.
