James R. "Bob" Haney, age 89, of Atkins, died July 13, 2012 at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center in Russellville.

He was born December 27, 1922, in Russellville, the son of the late Emmett B. and Viva Elizabeth Haney.

On the 50th Anniversary of the bombing of Pearl Harbor, he received the Congressional Medal of Honor for Veterans of the Attack. After serving four years in the Navy, he served three years in the Army during the Korean War. He was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Atkins.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Captola Ring Haney; two brothers; and one sister.

He is survived by four sons, Ralph Dwain Dollar and his wife Kathie of Columbus, MS, Robert Haney and wife Becky of Atkins, David Haney and wife Missy of Russellville, and Donald Haney of Atkins; 9 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Mary Ellen Horton of Russellville and Elizabeth Norris of Atkins; and a brother, Elmo Haney of Atkins.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Monday, July 16, at the Atkins First United Methodist Church. Burial with military honors provided by V.F.W. Rogers Rye Post #2283 is in Atkins City Cemetery. Visitation is from 2:00-4:00 PM Sunday at Lemley Chapel.

Pallbearers are Jimmy Horton, Mark Haney, Bruce Haney, Randy Haney, Robert McCollum and Steve Ring.

Captola Ring Haney, 81, of Atkins died Tuesday Oct. 24, 2006, at her home.
She was a homemaker, loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was born May 27, 1925 in Cleveland, Ark., daughter of the late Ed and Vesta Ring of Morrilton. She was a member of Atkins United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Bob Haney of Atkins; four sons, Ralph D. Dollar and wife, Kathie, of Columbus, Mississippi; Robert Haney and wife, Becky, of Atkins; David Haney and wife, Missy, of Angleton, Texas, and Donald Haney of Atkins; three brothers, Ralph Ring and wife, Sadie, of Cleveland, Woody Ring and wife, Ada of Center Ridge, and Dr. Gene D. Ring and wife, Bonnie of Dardanelle; nine grandchildren, Robbie and Dustin Dollar of Columbus, Miss., Kirk Dollar of Birmingham, Ala., Brannon Haney of Ozark, Brett Haney, Alan and Andrea Haney, and Tyler Haney of Atkins, and Sara Haney of Angleton, Texas; three great-grandchildren, Jackson Dollar of Columbus, Miss., and Will and Ross Haney of Ozark; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Lemley Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Robert Woody officiating. Burial will be in Atkins City Cemetery by Lemley Funeral Service.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. today.
Pallbearers will be nephews -- Bruce Haney, Randy Haney, Robert McCollum, Jimmy Horton, Steve Ring and Steve Pyle.
