Mr. Jesse B. Stone, 87, of Conway, died Monday (Jan. 14, 2008). Jesse was born July 26, 1920, in Conway to the late Joseph Clem and Virgie Malitta (King) Stone.

While serving in the Navy during World War II, Mr. Stone attained the rank of Chief Machinist Mate in only four years. Following his discharge, he graduated from the Milwaukee School of Engineering. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He will be missed dearly, especially by his girls.



Mr. Stone is preceded in death by his wife, Melba (Brown) Stone; his parents; and a brother, John King Stone. He is survived by daughters, Marilyn Thomas of Euless, Texas, Susan Fine of Cocoa, Fla., Marie Jones of St. Cloud, Fla., and Lanelta Stone of Conway; sisters, Frances Meyer and Tacy Reed of Little Rock, and Nola Stone of Conway; grandchildren, Marie Hilliard, Suzanne Jordan, Skip Davis, Chad Davis, Jerry Fine, Robert Fine, Nicole Jones, Rachel Jones, Caleb Walker and Cape Walker; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Friday in the Chapel of Griffin Leggett Funeral Home, with burial to follow at Stone Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday.
