Delbert C. Hester, 76, of Fayetteville died Tuesday, March 7, 2006, at Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville.
He was born Nov. 29, 1929, in Fayetteville to William Silas and Donna Ester Patrick Hester. He was preceded in death by a brother, Roy Hester.
He was an employee of the city of Fayetteville street department, retiring after 50 years of employment. He loved horses, the outdoors and especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Frances England Hester; one daughter, Betty Taylor Rankin of Fayetteville; two sisters, Mary Wilburn and her husband Arthur and Alma Keister and her husband Gene, all of Fayetteville; three grandchildren, Thomas Lee Rankin and his wife Susan of West Fork, Wayne Rankin and Angela Rankin, both of Fayetteville; four great-grandchildren, Anthony, Kacey and Amber Rankin and Haley Kell; and everyone that loved him.
A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Friday, March 10 at White Oak Cemetery near Wheeler with the Rev. Bill Rhine officiating.
Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday at Moore's Chapel in Fayetteville.
