Virgie Stroud Sewing, 90, of Russellville, died Friday, February 4, 2005 at Conway Regional Medical Center. The daughter of F. L. "Tobe" and Minnie Doren Reynolds Roper, she was born February 27, 1914 in Jerusalem, Arkansas. She worked as a seamstress with Oberman & Company in Morrilton and later the Levi Strauss Plant. She was a member of the West Side Church of Christ where she also sang in the West Side Chorale. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Linson Stroud and her second husband August Gotlieb Ludwing Sewing She was also preceded by her parents, four brothers, Irwin Roper, Reedie Roper, Garland Roper, Loyce Roper and three sisters, Arlie Austin, Vernie Green, Jewell Roper, a grandson, Mark Robin Griffith and a granddaughter, Linda Cheryl Harmon. She is survived by two daughters, Gladys Birmingham Norwood, Russellville, Hazel Lois Griffith, Conway; six grandchildren, Ralph Michael Harmon, Fort Smith, Kay Dickey, Russellville, Jon Birmingham, Russellville, Ed Birmingham, Texarkana, Eric Birmingham, Columbus, OH, James Michael Griffith, Brentwood, CA; sixteen great grandchildren; nine great great grandchildren. Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 9, 2005 at Humphrey Chapel. Dan Lightfoot and Bruce Grice will officiate. Burial will be at Cedar Creek at Jerusalem by Humphrey Funeral Service. Visitation will be 1:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.
