T.J.Rowland Sr., passed away at his home on South Rosser Street, Sunday, July 17,1927, shortly before 9 o'clock at the age of 80 years. He lost his sight five years ago, and had been an invalid practically all the intervening time. Realizing that his advanced years held out little hope of recovery, he often expressed his readiness to pass into the heavenly home that awaited him. He was received into the Methodist church under the pastorate of Rev.W.V.Womack. Mr.Rowland was born in Tennessee, but came to Eastern Arkansas when a child, living in Haynes until twenty three years ago, since which time he has made Forrest City his home. He is survived by his wife, and the following children: Oliver and Tom J.Rowland, Jr., Mrs.D.E.Hoshall and Mrs.B.F.Hardison, the latter of Ridgely, Tenn. All were present at the funeral services held Monday afternoon, conducted by Rev.Chas.Franklin and Blount F.Davidson. The services were attended by a large number of friends from Forrrest City, Wynne and Haynes, and the many floral offerings covered the grave-lot. Pall bearers were, Active: J.L.Alley, C.E.Hammond, Don Wilkerson, E.B.Smith, W.R.Ferguson, and T.W.Horney. Honorary: A.C.Bridewell, N.B.Rice, Homer Folbre, F.G.Pettus, H.R.Clark, J.T.Sanders, F.W.McClendon, J.E.Ferguson, E.A.Rolfe, T.A.Buford, A.D.McDaniel, J.T.Johnson, J.G.Sanders, James Fussell, James F.Wolfe, Joe Gray, Jack Ferguson, Sam Rolfe, Bob Brittain, W.A.Morrow, Rube Pipkin, and H.W.Bullard.
