Vada L. Killion, 98, of Conway, formerly of North Little Rock, passed away on December 19, 2012. She was born in Grand Saline, TX on Feb. 1, 1914 to Annie Mae Busby Burgess and William Floyd Burgess.
She was an honorary member of Copperas Springs Baptist Church in Guy, a member of Antioch Baptist Church in Conway, and a member of Calvary Baptist Church in North Little Rock for over 40 years. During World War II she worked at the Ordinance Plant in Jacksonville after the death of her first husband, Blaine Lee, and after moving her four children from the family farm in England to Little Rock to secure employment. After her second marriage, to Jim Killion, the family moved back to the farm for a few years before settling in North Little Rock for 45 years. She was retired from Dillard's after a long career in retail sales which began at Sterling Stores in downtown Little Rock, moving to Pfeifer's which later became Dillard's. She opened and retired from the McCain Mall Dillard's ladies' lingerie department.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, James W. Killion, her first husband, Blaine Lee, a daughter, Bettye Lee Garrison and grandaughter, Alisa Garrison, her brothers Carl Burgess, James Burgess, and Chester Burgess and one sister Nannie Purnell. Mrs. Killion is survived by three sons, Bobby Lee (Frankie), Marvin Lee (Mardula),and Tommy Lee (Ola), and one daughter, Nancy Moix (Raymond). She is also survived by grandchildren, William B. Garrison, Bobby Garrison and Wallace Garrison, Michael Lee and Bobbie Carol Winchester, Larry Lee, Terry Lee, and Sheila Pennington, Tony Lee, and Saundra Troutte, Kevin Lee, T. J. Lee, Glenn Ray Lee, and Mark Lee, and Chris Moix, Jeff Moix, and Melissa Moix, twenty nine great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, December 21, 2012 at Copperas Springs Baptist Church, Guy, Arkansas. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service, at 1 p.m. Friday, December 21st at the church. Grandsons will be pallbearers. The family would like to thank Dr. Diane France and staff for years of dedicated care, nurses Mark, Samantha, Anna Maria, and Cory and the aides who cared for her during her last few months.
