Donnie Leon Gulley, son of the late Sylvester Gulley and Virgie Copeland Gulley, was born February 13, 1948 in Lunenburg, Arkansas. He departed this life October 15, 2021 at his home in Melbourne, Arkansas at the age of 73 years, 8 months and 2 days. He was united in marriage to Kathleen Ford September 26, 1973 in Cherokee Village and together they raised two sons. Donnie spent his life as a loving son, brother, husband, father, uncle, provider and friend. Donnie was a lifelong resident of Izard County. He was a skilled bulldozer operator, working for M & M Construction and the City of Melbourne. When he was not at work, Donnie enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. Gardening was his favorite pastime. He delighted in giving his vegetables to family and friends. He was of the Baptist faith.

Donnie is survived by two sons: Kelby Gulley and Gavin Gulley both of Melbourne; one brother: Paul Gulley and wife Cindy of Melbourne; one daughter: Amanda Cooper of Piggott; two grandchildren: Kayla Cooper and Justin Cooper of Piggott and a host of other relatives and many good friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and son-in-law: Randy Cooper.

Graveside funeral service will be Monday, October 18 at 10:00 a.m. at Combs Cemetery.

Pallbearers: Pete Edwards, Mark Herrington, Kenny Moser, Dennis Bookout, Josh Morehead and Doyle McCollum.

Honorary Pallbearers: David Miller, John David Miller, Eddie Tate, Oggie Ivey, Kay Cooper, Greg Tate, Ed Majors and James Clark.

Gertie Kathleen Ford Gulley, daughter of the late Melvin Ford and Gladys White Ford, was born August 2, 1953 in Melbourne, Arkansas. She departed this life August 10, 2014 in Melbourne, Arkansas at the age of 61 years and 8 days.

She was united in marriage to Donnie Gulley on September 26, 1973 in Cherokee Village, Arkansas and to this union two sons were born. She spent her life as a daughter, sister, wife, mother, homemaker and friend. She worked as a Registered Nurse in the Emergency Room at Community Medical Center of Izard County. She also worked as a with Izard County Home Health and Hospice. She was of the Baptist faith and a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband of almost 40 years: Donnie Gulley of the home; two sons Kelby Gulley and Gavin Gulley both of Melbourne; one sister: Laverne Ward and husband J H of Oxford; six nieces: Beverly Ward, Tammie Parker, Rhonda Norvold, Melinda Womack, Regina Smotherman and Tina Harris; one brother-in-law: Paul Gulley and wife Cindy of Melbourne and a host of other relatives and many good friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister: Nola Blevins.

Funeral service will be Wednesday, August 13 at 10:00 a.m. at Howard Memorial Funeral Chapel in Melbourne with John Higgins and Elvis Sneathern officiating. Burial will be at Combs Cemetery under the direction of Eddie’s Family Funeral Home in Melbourne. Visitation will be Tuesday, August 13 from 6-8 p.m.

Pallbearers: Tommy Wren, II, Kenny Moser, Mark Herrington, David Miller, Joshua Morehead, Mike Rush.

Honorary Pallbearers: Kirk Miller, Jerry Ward, Pete Edwards, Mike Wolford, Pat Davidson, and Dr. Charles Morgan.
