ROGERS — Leslie James "Les" Mahurin, 61, of Rogers, Ark, passed away Monday, Nov. 12, 2012, at Bentonville Manor in Bentonville, Ark. He was born Sept. 30, 1951, in Mulberry, Ark., to James Lester Mahurin and Virginia Sue Ross Mahurin.

He proudly served in the United States Army National Guard.

Les graduated from Bentonville High School in 1969 and worked for Buell Greenhouse and Sara and Bud Walton during high school. He went to work for Southwestern Bell and retired after 32 years of service as a telephone technician and cable repair specialist. He was a union steward for the CWA, representing and defending the rights and interest of fellow employees. He was also a lifelong member of Bentonville Church of the Nazarene. Les was the ultimate outdoorsman and loved nature; he enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, boating and collecting arrowheads. He will always be remembered as a gentle, kind, loyal husband, father and faithful friend.

He was preceded in death by his father, James Lester Mahurin; one sister, Susan Elaine Mahurin Subbert; and his former wife and mother a his sons, Anita Haughn Mahurin.

Les is survived by his wife of 14 years, Peggy Lloyd Mahurin; two sons, Joshua Isaac Mahurin of Alameda, Calif., Zachary Lafayette Mahurin; his mother, Virginia Mitchell and husband, Paul, of Centerten; two stepchildren, Amanda Thibodeaux and husband, Lance, of Bentonville, Dylan Hollums and wife, Roberta, of Bentonville; one brother, Clyde Mahurin and his companion, Jodi Newman, of Bentonville; one sister, Elaine Olson and husband, Shawn, of Gravette, Ark.; and three grandchildren, Mason Isaiah Hollums, and Peyton and Myra Thibodeaux; his lifelong friend, Larry Woolard and wife, Peggy, of Bentonville, a large extended family of nieces, nephews and brother/sisters-in-law, and many friends and coworkers.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today, Nov. 15, 2012, at Stockdale-Moody Funeral Services in Rogers.

Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Friday, Nov. 16, 2012, at Bentonville Church of the Nazarene, with Lynn Brown officiating. Private graveside services will be held at a later date at Falling Springs Cemetery.

Memorials may be made in memory of Les to Circle of Life Hospice, 900 N.E. Verdant, Bentonville, AR 77712.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Stockdale-Moody Funeral Services in Rogers.
