GARFIELD — Alvin Martin Seamster, 79, of Garfield died Sept. 26, 2012, at the Willard Walker Hospice Home in Fayetteville. He was born Oct. 14, 1932, in Bentonville to Alvin Augustine and Ella Lorinda Huls Seamster.

Buddy was a graduate of Bentonville High School and a college graduate of Arizona State University. Ruddy also attended the University of the Ozarks at Clarksville. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1955-1957 as a personnel man aboard the USS Dukes County at Long Beach, Calif.

Buddy taught school in the Paradise Valley school system in Arizona, and also the Pea Ridge and Rogers school systems in Arkansas. He served as teacher and principal at the Garfield Elementary School in Garfield, Ark.

After retiring from the education field, Buddy worked for the Walmart Fuji Photo Express as a route driver for nine years. He was a longtime member of Garfield First Baptist Church.

Buddy was preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Betty Mason Seamster in 2007; also his parents, Alvin and Ella Seamster; his three sisters, Yvonne White, Mary Scholze, Alice Riley; and one brother, Bill Seamster.

Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Laura and Scotty Mulkey; son and daughter-in-law, Marty and Melissa Seamster; six grandchildren, Jeremy VanScoy, Josh Pratt, Morgan Seamster, Titus Artt, Duncan Artt, all of Garfield, and Ashley Mulkey of Rogers; brother, Charlie Adams of Texas; and one great-grandchild.

A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Bentonville Cemetery.

Visitation will be Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Sisco Funeral Home in Pea Ridge.

Betty Joyce Seamster, 69, of Garfield died April 8, 2007, at her home. She was born May 3, 1937, in Whitener to Theron Everett and Hattie Maude Mae Burson Mason. She retired from the Avoca post office after serving as postmaster for 17 years. She was a member of the Garfield First Baptist Church. She enjoyed crocheting, gardening and reading the Bible and playing with her grandkids.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Theron and Hattie Mason and Clifford and Blanche Cline, one brother, R.D. Mason, three sisters, Vivian Pryor, Leah Counts and Maxine Moppin.

Survivors include her husband of 41 years, Alvin M. "Buddy" Seamster of the home; one daughter, Laura Pratt of Garfield; one son, Marty Seamster of Garfield; one daughter-in-law, Cindy Seamster of Garfield; four grandchildren, Jeremy, Joshua, Morgan and Beau, all of Garfield; one brother, Vance Mason of Green Forest; five sisters, Helen McCollough of Hindsville, Melva Gabbard of Elkins, Martha Lewis of Huntsville, Mary Ann Taylor of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Brenda McCall of Springdale.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Bentonville Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Sisco Funeral Home in Pea Ridge.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, 614 E. Emma Ave., Springdale, 72764.
