HOGG, W.J. - {from The Fayetteville Sentinel} 'Squire W.J. Hogg, a popular citizen of the city, died suddenly of heart disease about 9 o'clock Tuesday morning. He had come up town in apparently good health and was seated in front of Harbison's butcher shop for some minutes conversing with Mr. Obe Cate. Finishing his conversation with Mr. Cate he rose to his feet and suddenly fell backward to the sidewalk and died instantly. He was about 65 years of age and had lived in this city for a number of years. He was well liked by all who knew him. He leaves a wife and son in this city and a married daughter, who lives near here.

Squire W.J. Hogg dropped dead on the side walk in front of Nix's confectionery store about 9 o'clock this morning, says Tuesday's Fayetteville Daily. He walked up to where Mr. Obe Cate was standing, shook hands with him, spoke a few friendly words, fell forward and in a minute was dead. Heart disease was the cause of his sudden death. He had been suffering from heart trouble for some time and was aware that such a fate might befall him at any time. He was apparently in good health this morning, however, and met his friends in his usual jovial and good natured manner. Mr. Hogg came to Washington county about 25 years ago and located near Wheeler, where he served as justice of the peace for many years. Four years ago he moved to Fayetteville where he has since resided. He was a good, peaceful citizen and was a member of the Baptist church. He was about 60 years of age. His death was a great shock to a host of friends who deeply sympathize with the bereaved family. The remains will be taken to Wheeler tomorrow for interment.
