PRAIRIE GROVE — Harvey Nelson West, 93, a resident of Prairie Grove, went to be with his Lord on June 10, 2012, at his home. He was born Feb. 21. 1919, in Hollis, Okla., the son of Fredrick William and Clara Elizabeth Hundley
West.
Harvey served in the U.S. Army in Europe during World War II and in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean conflict. Harvey was a member of the American Legion Post 171 in Lincoln as well as the VFW.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Prairie Grove. He was an ordained deacon at Keystone Baptist Church in Carson, Calif. He worked as a store manager for Lucky Stores in California before returning to Arkansas. He retired from the University of Arkansas. He was a devoted fan of the Razorbacks; he loved sports.
Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Mary Lucille Kirk West; four children, Randy Nelson West of Grapevine, Texas, Richard Lynn West of Hundred, W.Va., Larry Dee West of Fayetteville, Ark., and Roger Lee West of Prairie Grove, Ark.; nine grandchildren, Kevin West, Shawn West, Eric West, Amber Higgins, Ryan Anderson, Melissa Vincent, Bonnie Lucille West, Logan West and Aaron West; eight great-grandchildren, Samantha West, Lilly West, Astoria Higgins, Kale Higgins, Ava Lynn Vincent, Andrya Nagy, Anthony Lopez and Owen Nelson West.
Family will receive friends this evening from 6-7 p.m. at Luginbuel Funeral Home.
Funeral service will be held Wednesday, June 13, 2012, at 10 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Prairie Grove. Burial will be in Prairie Grove Cemetery; there will be no graveside services held it the cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers will be grandsons, Eric West, Kevin Nelson West, Shawn Michael West, Ryan Anderson, Logan West and Aaron West.
