HOLLY GROVE -- Betty Jo Patterson Mason, 77, of Holly Grove passed away Sept. 20, 2008, at Baptist Health Center in North Little Rock.

She was born in Holly Grove on Nov. 14, 1930, the daughter of Joe and Lucille Surman Patterson. A graduate of Holly Grove High School, she taught in the Holly Grove schools and later worked for the state Department of Human Services before her retirement. She was a lifelong resident of Holly Grove and a member of the Holly Grove United Methodist Church.

She married Vernon Leon Mason, who preceded her in death.

Betty Jo enjoyed gardening, traveling and the research of genealogy. She was very involved with the Aldersgate and Alderscare programs in her church and the Senior Center in Holly Grove.

She is survived by cousins Sherry Davis, Susan Gray, Linda Sue Rose, Hope Strubble, Karen Clore, Charles Clore, Clayton Clore, Carrol Clore, Kevin Clore, Ronnie Province and Fred Surman, and an aunt, Mae Belle Williamson of Bartlesville, Okla.

Graveside services will be held September 26 at Macedonia Cemetery, Holly Grove, with Rev. Fern Davis and Rev. Donald Lewert officiating.

Memorials may be made to Macedonia Cemetery.
