GENTRY — Margaret L. Shields, 83, of Gentry died Sept. 10, 2006, at Siloam Springs Nursing and Rehab. She was born Dec. 9, 1922, in Highfill to Bob and Mary Roper Cowden. She grew up in Highfill and lived most of her adult life in the Fairmount community. She was a member of the Home Demonstration Club and the East Kenwood Missionary Baptist Church in Siloam Springs. She painted the faces on the original pool of Siloam characters. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne, in 1992.
Survivors include two sons, Kenneth Shields and wife Vickie of Joplin, Mo., and Terrel Shields of Siloam Springs; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Wasson Funeral Home in Siloam Springs with Marvin Loyd officiating. Burial will follow in Fairmount Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.
