GEORGETOWN, Texas — Robert McNabb Haynes, 73, passed away on Aug. 2, 2011, at his home in Georgetown, Texas. He was born Aug. 25, 1937, to Thomas Harold Haynes and Ethyl Fern Haynes in Fort Smith, Ark.

He graduated from Fort Smith High School and then graduated from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville with a bachelor of arts degree in sociology/psychology, and a master of education degree in counseling.

Robert (Rob) is predeceased in death by his mother and father; his first wife, ZoeAnn Haynes; his older brother, Harold Jr.; and his younger brother, Dick.

He is survived by his two daughters, Sara Merritt and husband Cliff, and granddaughter, Randi; Sherry Boan and husband Charles, and grandchildren, Brooke, Ben and Brock. He is further survived by his wife, Marci Boone Haynes; her two children, Sam T. Goodner and his wife Caroline, and grandchildren, Sam Jackson and Katherine, and Melanie Reyes and husband Rommel, and grandchildren, Nathan and Amanda Stuart and Elia, Lily and Diana Reyes.

Bob was actively involved in his community, wherever he lived. In Ardmore, Okla., he was involved in city management and was also the mayor. Bob and ZoeAnn were both actively involved in the "Walk to Emmaus" through the First United Methodist Church.

Bob and ZoeAnn moved to Bella Vista, Ark., in 2000. He was the executive director of Mainstreet, Bentonville, which he later changed to "Downtown Bentonville Inc." This laid the groundwork for most of the downtown activities that now take place, such as "First Friday." Bob and ZoeAnn introduced "Walk to Emmaus" to the congregation at The First United Methodist Church in Bentonville, Ark. As a result, more than 200 people have attended this spiritual experience. Bob was well-known for his motivational column, "Fables and Faith," both in Arkansas and Mexico.

Family will be available for friends on Saturday, Aug. 6, 2011, from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Stockdale Funeral Services, 2898 W. Walnut, Rogers, Ark.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, Aug. 7, 2011, at 3 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church, 201 N.W. Second St., Bentonville, Ark., with the Rev. Rex Dickey and the Rev. Susan Ledbetter officiating. Burial will be at Bentonville Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, Bob would be pleased for donations to be made to the ZoeArin Haynes Celebration Ministries, 201 N.W. Second St., Bentonville, AR 72712.

BELLA VISTA — Zoe Ann Bridenthial Haynes, 65, of Bella Vista died May 19, 2006, at her home. She was born Jan. 17, 1941, in Little Rock to Sara Zoe Hill and Alfred Courtney Bridenthal. She grew up in Dallas. She graduated from North Dallas High School in 1958. She attended the University of Arkansas, where she was a member of the Alpha Delta Pi sorority.

She married Robert M. "Bob" Haynes on Oct. 29, 1960. She spent 21 years as a business manager for the First United Methodist Church in Ardmore, Okla. She also worked as a financial manager for the First Presbyterian Church of Bentonville for four and a half years, and was active in her own church, First United Methodist Church of Bentonville, and in two Emmaus communities — Cross Point Emmaus Community of Southern Oklahoma and Heart of the Ozarks Emmaus Community in Northwest Arkansas.

Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Sara Lynn Merritt and husband Cliff and Sheryl Lee Boan and husband Charles; four grandchildren, Randi Merritt, Brooke Boan, Ben Boan and Brock Boan; one sister, Betsy Barto of Pueblo West, Colo.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the First United Methodist Church in Bentonville. Burial will be in the Bentonville City Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the church from noon to 1 p.m. Tuesday. Arrangements are by Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home of Bentonville.
