Jo Ann Weidner Doepel, age 79, of Ulm went to be with the Lord on Thursday, Oct. 23, 2014. She was born July 19, 1935 in Stuttgart. She was the daughter of Clarence E. “Fuzzy” and Louise Marchand Weidner of Stuttgart. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church of Ulm where she dedicated many years of service. She graduated from Stuttgart High School where she was a majorette and played the bassoon in the band.She was preceded in death by her parents and one daughter, Virginia Lynn Kirkland.She is survived by her husband, Edwin Doepel of Ulm; sister Marilyn Holland of Cookeville, Tennessee; son, Jay Kirkland of Stuttgart; daughter, Amy Chastain and Mike of Maumelle; daughter, Julie Beard and Richard of North Little Rock; step-son, Edwin Doepel Jr. and Ruth of Yorkville, Illinois; step-daughter, Karen Geater and Edward of Benton; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Sunday at Turpin Funeral Home in Stuttgart. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 27, at Zion Lutheran Church in Ulm with burial to follow at the Ulm Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, it was her wish that donations be made to Zion Lutheran Church, P.O. Box 158, Ulm, Ark. 72170; Museum of the Arkansas Grand Prairie, 921 E. Fourth St., Stuttgart, Ark. 72160; or the charity of your choice.
