William Hilliard was born Dec. 3, 1860, died May 14, 1932, making his stay on earth 71 years, 5 months, 11 days. He was born in Tennessee, moved to Illinois when two years old, came to Arkansas when 17 years old where he lived the remainder of his life. He married Miss Hattie Williams in 1879. To this union were born three girls and one boy, all living except his oldest daughter, Mrs. Della Mahurin, who preceded him in death 10 years. His wife preceded him in death eight years. He was married to Mrs. Jennie Marshall in 1925, who remains to mourn his departure together with his children, Mrs. Mary Galyen, Mrs. Myrtle Scott and James Hilliard, all of Garfield. He also leaves one sister, Mrs. Eliza Shellabarger of Herrick, Ill. A good man has gone but will never be forgotten. Let us not weep as those who have no hope for remember, dear ones, for 30 long years he had been walking in the light, a true Christian, doing good to all, setting a pure example for us to follow. He was buried with his Lord in baptism 30 years ago last Dec. 3; was a faithful member of the Church of Christ the rest of his life. He has now gone to receive the crown of life the Lord has promised to all who keep the faith as this dear loved one has. Let us all so live that we too may say we have fought a good fight and have kept the faith and can meet where parting is no more.— Written by one who loved him very dearly, his niece, Estella Ross.
