Sunday Truck Accident Fatal To 4-Year-Old Lincoln Boy

A four-year-old Lincoln boy was killed and his father injured when their pickup truck slammed into the rear of a semi-traitor truck on Hwy. 16 approximately nine miles southeast of Siloam Springs Saturday afternoon.

Dead is Mark A. Weyl of Route. 1, Lincoln. His father, Herbert Weyl, 28, suffered only minor injuries.

State Police said a semi-trailer truck driven by William Rutherford, 45, of Route 2, Siloam Springs had stopped on the highway for a funeral procession. Weyl's pickup rounded curve and he was unable to stop before plowing into the larger truck.

Mark was born July 20, 1968 in Siloam Springs, the son of Herbert W. and Marilyn Ruth West Weyl.

Survivors in addition to the parents are a brother, Todd of the home; the maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence West of Placentia, Calif. and the paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Otto Weyl of Fayetteville.

Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Howe-Savoy Bible Church with burial in White Oak Cemetery under direction of Luginbuel Funeral Home.
