OBITUARY

Pauline Neeper Treadwell, age 88, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 2, 2008, at her home in Malvern, Ark. She was born May 26, 1919, in Willow, Ark., to Lettie Magness and Oscar L. Neeper, Sr.

Pauline was married to McHenry "Mack" Treadwell in 1941 in Pine Bluff, Ark. While Mack was in the service, Pauline moved with him to California where she was a civilian employee at the air base. She worked taking machine guns apart and reassembling them in an Air Force training program for gunners. She returned to Malvern when Mack was sent to serve in the South Pacific. She and Mack were married for 42 years, with him preceding her in death in 1986.

Pauline graduated from Willow High School in 1936. She continued her education at Ouachita Baptist College in Arkadelphia, where she graduated in 1950 with a Bachelor's Degree in Education. She then attended Henderson State College, graduating in 1952 with Master's Degrees in English and Guidance Counseling. She began her teaching career in Carthage, Ark., in 1940. She also taught at Gifford and Pine Bluff before returning to Malvern for the remainder of her teaching career. She taught for a total of 42 years, the last 14 of which she was the guidance counselor at Malvern High School. Mrs. Treadwell helped shape the lives of numerous students in helping them choose lifelong careers.
Pauline was a dedicated member of the Second Baptist Church. She led the Adult Ladies' Sunday School Class for 22 years and served as Sunday School Superintendent of the Children's' Department. She was very active in the church choir and sang in a women's quartet for many years. Pauline was a member of many community clubs and organizations, including the Women's Club of Malvern, Delta Kappa Gamma, Book Club, the Retired Teachers' Organization and the Second Baptist Church Music Club. She was an avid reader, loved to travel and especially loved to shop.

Pauline was preceded in death by her parents, Lettie Magness Stiles Neeper and Oscar Lee Neeper, Sr.; her sister, Maxine Marie Neeper Bland and her brother, Oscar Lee "Bud" Neeper, Jr.

She is survived by a sister, Helen Ann Neeper Hooker; a special sister-in-law, Mary Evelyn Neeper Lawrence; her uncle, Reese Stiles; nieces and nephews, Steve Neeper and Buck Neeper of Malvern, Mary Jane Neeper Jones of Camden, Cindy Hooker Sears of Houston, Texas, David Hooker of Nashville, Tenn., and Becky Treadwell Kauffmann of Fordyce. She is also survived by a very special nephew, Thomas Lee Bland of Maumelle, Ark. Also surviving her are a number of great nieces and nephews.

No formal visitation is scheduled, but friends are encouraged to visit at the home of Mary Lawrence, 1725 Regency Drive in Malvern, after the funeral service and burial. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, May 6 at Regency Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Ron Parrish. She will be buried at Lono Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her nephews and great-nephews. Honorary pallbearer is Thomas Bland.

The family would like to thank Hospice Home Care, and especially Pauline's dedicated and loving care-givers. Pauline touched and guided many lives and will be greatly missed. Memorials would be welcomed by the American Cancer Society, the Hot Spring County Library, or the Lono Cemetary Association.
