Son of William D Oxford & Grace Chambers
The Rev Earl Oxford, 78, of Fort Smith died Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2001, in Fort Smith. He was an Army veteran of World War II in the 194th Field Artillery Battalion in Africa, Italy and Germany; he was a Baptist minister, retired from the Baptist Mission in Moffett, and formerly employed with Gordon Transport. Funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday in Smith Mortuary Chapel in Charleston with burial at Caulksville Cemetery in Caulksville. He is survived by his wife, Rachel; a sister, Willadean Lovell of Bakersfield, Calif.; a brother, Gene Oxford of San Diego, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Dan Yoakum, Bill Turner, Jess Woolsey, James Goddard, Manford Barnard and L.V. Hayes.
