ROGERS — Charles Lawrence Bays, 85, of Rogers, died Friday, June 3, 2011, at Circle of Life Hospice Home, Bentonville, with his family by his side. Charles was born April 11, 1926, in Arkansas City, Kan., to the late Archibald L. and Hester Irene (Frame) Bays.
On July 19, 1948, he married Barbara Jean Patterson in Ark City. Charles retired in 1986 after working 43 years for the Santa Fe Railroad. He was devoted to his family and was an avid golfer.
Preceding him in death was his wife 62 years; two sisters, Aletha Kuhn and Olga Bays; brother, Leslie Bays; and great-granddaughter, Anna Grace Nevill.
Survivors include daughter, Karen Bays and partner Denise McKenna of Newborough, Australia; daughter, Gail (Bays) and Steve Slagle; grandchildren, Marissa (Slagle) and Grant Nevill, Nicholas and Lindsey Slagle, great-grandsons. Willian and Harrison Nevill, and great-granddaughters, Cora Grace, Madeleine and Hadley Slagle, all of Bentonville, Ark.
There will be a memorial service held at Apple Blossom Community Room, 1501 N. 22nd St., in Rogers on Saturday, June 11, 2011, at 4 p.m.
