Clara Louida WALKER PATTERSON

Cogbill Cemetery
Cross County,
Arkansas

Birth: August 23, 1901
Death: 1936

Clara was part Welsh. Her father was a commercial fisherman on a riverboat on the Mississippi River. Her mother was a cook. She met Johnnie Patterson while she was housekeeping for his brother James and wife Beulah Patterson.
Married 1918 to Johnnie James Patterson.
She died of bronchial pneumonia.
Notes from granddaughter Elizabeth Rhodes.

Grandpa met Grandma because James and Beulah PATTERSON hired her to housekeep for them. She began working for them when she was about 15 or 16 yrs old. They married when she was about 18.

Grandpa had a taxi run. He owned a Buick and a Model T. Uncle Ollie wrecked the Buick. (He ran over a hog.)

Moved from Patterson Lake to Bay Road. Moved from there to somewhere in the hills. Then moved from there to Whitehall. The family shelled beans and Grandma and Grandpa went to the cannery to can the beans. On the way back it came up a rain storm and she was running. After that she was never very well again.

From Whitehall they moved to McCormick. Rains washed out the crops and Granpa talked to Morris Smith and got a team of mules and a wagon and moved the family back to the Bay Road. This is where Clara died.
