DECATUR — Dale Gordon Browning, 85, of Decatur died July 13, 2006, at his home. He was born June 19, 1921, in Decatur to David Baker and Alice Bernadine Gordon Browning. He was an Army veteran of World War II with the 84th Infantry Division, where he attained the rank of staff sergeant and was awarded three Bronze Service Stars for the Ardennes Central Europe Rhineland Campaign. He married Onnobell "Ann" Weslee Cook on Jan. 11, 1965. He retired from the Arkansas State Forestry Service and was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Decatur. He was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 9834, Gentry Masonic Lodge 222, past Master of the Decatur Masonic Lodge 526, and was a 32nd-degree member of the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, 84th Infantry Division Railsplitters Society, and American Legion Post 25 in Gravette.

Survivors include his wife, Onnobell "Ann" Browning of Decatur, one daughter, Margie Axsom and husband Robert of Barnsdall, Okla.; two stepdaughters, Mary Lois Shoemaker and husband Gary of Broken Arrow, Okla., and Donna Shrader and husband Richard of Wichita, Kan; one stepson, Larry Suiter and wife Rosie of Lorraine, Kan.; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at First United Methodist Church in Decatur with the Rev. Frank Cook officiating. Burial will be in Falling Springs Cemetery at Decatur.

Arrangements are by Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home in Siloam Springs.

Onnobell "Ann" Browning, 89, of Decatur, died March 29, 2013, in Barnsdall, Okla.

She was born Jan. 22, 1924, in Trousdale, Kan., to Bert and Golda Mae Cook. She married Dale Browning on Jan. 11, 1965, in Decatur. She was of the Methodist faith.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dale Browning; sister Maxine Shaw; and one son, Larry Suiter.

Survivors include one son, Robert Suiter and wife Delora of Gillette, Wyo.; one daughter, Donna Shrader and husband Richard of Wichita, Kan.; two stepdaughters, Margie Axsom and husband Robert of Barnsdall, Okla., and Mary Shoemaker and husband Gary of Broken Arrow, Okla.; 11 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m., Wednesday, April 3, at the Decatur United Methodist Church in Decatur, with Russ Hall officiating. Burial will follow in the Falling Springs Cemetery, near Decatur. Arrangements are by Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home of Siloam Springs.
