Columbus Sanders, 58, of Route 2 Magnolia died Thursday as a result of an automobile accident. He was born in Claiborne Parish, Louisiana, July 10, 1913, the son of Aaron and Tilta Walters Sanders. He was a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Mary E. Sanders; two daughters, Mrs. Louise Jones and Miss Delois Sanders, all of Magnolia; seven sons, Ira Sanders, Phoenix, Ariz., Era Sanders, Perry Sanders and Columb us Sanders, Jr., all of Dallas, Tex., Paul E. Sanders, Terry Sanders and Gerry Sanders all of Magnolia; two sisters, Mrs. Gustavia Carroll and Mrs. Gertrude Strickland both of Magnolia; three brothers, Paul Sanders, Magnolia, Earnest Sanders, Phoenix, Ariz., and Robert Sanders, Dallas, Tex.; and fifteen grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. in Shady Grove Baptist Church, Magnolia Highway, with the Rev. R. Z. Rice officiating. Burial will follow in Damascus Cemetery under the direction of Sims Mortuary. (El Dorado Times - September 11, 1971)
