HARRISON, Ola - A very distressing accident happened on Thursday of last week at the home of J.K. Harrison who resides near Ionia. The family had been visiting Mrs. Harrison's father, Esq. J.B. Whiteside, at Gentry and had returned home in the morning about 9 o'clock. Mr. Harrison went out in the field about a mile away to work, while Mrs. Harrison went out to milk the cows and the children, who are all small, went into the house and attempted to build a fire. In a few moments the children came running from the house and a scene which would turn a heart of stone was presented to the mother. The clothing of the little five-year-old daughter, Ola, was in flames. The terror stricken mother ran toward the child but in her excitement fell, seriously hurting herself; but paying no attention to her own mishap she reached the child and begun hastily to remove the burning clothes. The child was burned so badly by this time that the greater part of its body was blistered and black. Drs. Eubanks and Rankin were called but the child only lived till evening. The remains were laid to rest on the following day, funeral service being conducted by Rev. J.R. Maxwell. We tender our sincere sympathy to the parents in their sad affliction.
