BELLA VISTA — R.C. McCafferty, 82, of Bella Vista, Ark., left this world for a better life on June 22, 2014, after a short illness. RC was born in Hartford, Ark., June 25, 1931, to Joseph and Barbara McCafferty, the youngest of 12 children.
Three things RC treasured more than anything else were his family, singing and the Lord. RC came from a talented family. His older siblings sang Gospel music, and RC loved Southern Gospel music from an early age.
He attended Stamps Baxter music school in Dallas, and led his first revival at age 17 before graduating from Hartford High School. He met the love of his life, Sue Bruce, at Hartford. They married on July 1, 1950, in Hartford, eventually having six children.
RC spread God's Word by singing Gospel music as a soloist, member of a quartet and as a church choir leader for over 65 years. But he was most proud of the group he presently was a part of, The McCafferty's. RC, three of his daughters and grandson provided a ministry through music at a number of churches in Arkansas over the past eight years.
He would always look forward to weekly practice with his family, whether there was an upcoming performance or not.
RC was preceded in death by his parents and 10 of his siblings.
His sister, Sue Preston of Van Buren, Ark., survives. He is also survived by his loving wife of nearly 64 years, Sue; son, Wayne McCafferty and wife, Kathy, of Round Rock, Texas; twin daughters, Gloria Aguirre Rodgiguez and husband, Danny, of Bella Vista, Ark., Claudia Kennemur and husband, Richard, of Lakewood, Calif.; daughter, Brenda Meade and husband, Bill, of Gravette, Ark.; daughter, Debbie Picard Mayberry and husband, Mike, of Bella Vista, Ark.; and son, Darrell McCafferty and wife, Gina, of Gravette, Ark. Also surviving are seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 26, 2014, with visitation at 10 a.m. at the Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church, 502 W. Lancashire Blvd., Bella Vista, Ark.
