ROGERS — John William "Bill" Carithers, 86, of Rogers passed away Oct. 8, 2012, at Northwest Medical-Bentonville. He was born April 22, 1926, in Wichita Falls, Texas, the son of John Wesley and Jessie Emily Chiles Carithers.
He worked for 42 years at Shores Hardware, four years at Ferrell Gas Service and three years at Car Wash City. John served in the United States Navy during WWII and was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Bentonville.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Dorothy Marie Carithers; her sister, Emma Lou McPherson; and one grandson, Ronnie Jernigan.
Survived by his children, Linda Holloway and husband, Franklin, of Lowell; Dyer Carithers and wife, Debbie, and Sharon Jernigan and husband, Rodney, both of Rogers; four grandchildren, Shawna Madewell and husband, Dustin, Shannon Hollowell, Darren Carithers and wife, Leah, and Vanessa Phipps and husband, Billy; nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services: 10 a.m. Thursday at Bethel Baptist Church in Bentonville with Pastor Mike McEuen officiating. Burial with full military honors by the Rogers American Legion Post 100 will follow in the Rogers Cemetery.
Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Benton County Funeral Home, 306 N. Fourth St., Rogers. Pallbearers will be Darren Carithers, Dustin Madewell, Seth Madewell, Billy Phipps, Steve Anderson and Jerry Maish.
