Jack Edward "J.J." Counihan Jr., 25, of Rogers, died Sunday, May 21, 1995, at his home. Born April 10, 1970, at Charlotte, N.C., the son of Jack Edward and Sheila Marilyn Dedman Counihan, he had been in a coma since an auto accident in December 1991. At the time of his accident, he was a junior at the University of Arkansas. He received an associate's degree from Northwood Institute, Cedar Hill, Texas, and was named valedictorian for the sophomore class and outstanding business management graduate for the 1989-90 academic year. He was a member of the Golden Key National Honor Society at the UA and was a member of Pi Kapa Alpha fraternity. He was also a member of Central United Methodist Church in Rogers.

Survivors are his parents of the home; his maternal grandmother, Mary H. Dedman of the home; and a sister, Kimberly D. Coats of Bentonville.

Funeral is at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Central United Methodist Church in Rogers with the Rev. Bobby C. Bell officiating. Burial is in Rogers Cemetery. Visitation is from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. today at Callison-Lough Funeral Home in Rogers.

Memorials may be made to the Central United Methodist Church Youth Fund, 307 W. Elm, Rogers, 72756.
