DEGREE, Mabel - Miss Mabel Degree, the 19-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. M.L. Degree, died Saturday afternoon at her home in the southwest part of town. Death was the result of typhoid fever. She had been ill with malaria fever earlier in the summer. It was thought early in the week that she was greatly improved but she suffered a relapse and rapidly grew worse. Funeral services were held at the house Sunday afternoon and were conducted by Elder T.J. Keller. A large number of friends were present to pay their last respects to the memory of the young girl, who had proved herself a loving friend and a pleasant companion to so many of them. Miss Degree was born July 9, 1888 at Stewart, Minnesota. She came to Rogers with her parents about seven years ago but a considerable portion of the time since then had been spent on their farm southwest of town. She attended Rogers Academy several years but had made a specialty of piano music and was making excellent progress in her chosen field. The Democrat joins with the community in extending sympathy to the bereaved family.
