HOOK, Cyrus - A tragedy occurred in the Logan community southeast of Gentry last Sunday afternoon when Cyrus Hook, the 18 year old son of Mr. and Mrs. John Hook of Logan, was drowned in Flint Creek on the Dunbar farm. Cyrus went in bathing and it is thought the cold water caused cramps which caused him to sink. No one was present at the time but a small brother and Mr. Dunbar, an elderly gentleman. They tried their best to save the young man when he sank and when they did succeed in bringing Cyrus out of the water he was too far gone to be resuscitated. Funeral services were held on Monday afternoon at Fairmount. He is survived by his parents, brother, sister, who lives at Anthony, Kansas. Many friends extend their sympathy to the bereaved ones in their sorrow.
